Can anyone point me towards a source or sources that compare and contrast
the different RDBMS's? So far I'm finding a TON of sales fluff online,
but
very little hard info on which to base decisions and spend $$. I'm
looking
for a stable (!) multi-user RDBMS to be run on a central DBServer and be
accessed by a small number of users. Security issues are a concern, as
are
cost and performance issues, and the end-users will Not be highly computer
literate so a GUI is pretty much of a given. It's essential that it
easily
handle BLOB's/Binary objects as well as standard data types. Record sizes
probably won't be over about 1Mb/record and it's unlikely to need to
handle
more than 500,000 records. Lastly, ad-hoc reporting is a Very desirable
feature. Any info on where I can find this kind of info would be VERY
much
appreciated! We've started a development in MSAccess for this, but I
remain
unconvinced that that's the best solution.
