Memory allocation for Mutex failed

When we used berkeley db, it shows some error like memory allocation
failed for mutex. around 250 db handles are used in our application
and we set mutex_set_max as 10000 in DB_CONFIG file. Again this issue
came.

We need more details about this parameter and the value ? Please share
the information ASAP.
