Connecting to Pervasive from Linux: isql works fine, php/odbc fails

Server:               Windows 2000
Pervasive:           SQL 2000i
Webserver:        Fedorca Core 4
PHP:                 PHP Version 5.1.6

I have install the Pervasive linux client libraries on my FC4, install
the unixodbc, etc, etc

As a root if i run the isql -v MYDB works fine.  I can query the
database locate on my windows 2000 server.

But when I try to use PHP/odbc (apache server on FC4) i get:

The page cannot be displayed.
Cannot find server or DNS Error
