Ah...=20

The express edition makes sense.=20
But not work group? :-(

Methinks its a conspiracy by both IBM and Oracle to wrangle more of our IT

Actually I wonder what will happen when Microsoft beefs up their
SQLServer.=
 Will IBM then change their tune?

BUT I STILL WANT TO SEE THOSE TPC-E NUMBERS and find out more on the cell

It used to be. It looks like it now comes standard=20

Edition and is not available in Express Edition.

Sorry if I'm being impatient, but I was *wondering* if/when=20
  we'll see any TPC-E benchmarking, that we've been hearing rumors=20
  about?

The latest from IBM was a TPC-C using DB2 v 9.5 which was done=20
  by the hardware folks to thumb their noses at HP. Of course HP responds
w=
ith=20
  their latest benchmark, however while the total numbers were lower, the
c=
ost=20
  per transaction was much lower.

And they say that TPC-C is=20
  dead.

So what is it going to be?

And one has to ask... Will it=20
  be on a blade server, and if so, on the cell chip based blades?=20
  ;-)

This would kind of kill two birds with one stone. We'll get to see=20
  the cell in action along with IDS numbers that should shock the rest of
t=
he=20
  world.

But hey! What do I know? My client is just *now* switching to=20
  10g, but are too cheap to pay for the ability to partition tables.
Isn't=20
  that a built in feature of IDS? (meaning all commercial=20
  versions?)
