How would you do a checkbook register?

by jmDesktop <needin4mation@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 16, 2008 at 07:32 PM

I know I can keep a running total, but I was thinking that this would
be very slow after a while and not very efficient. For example, if it
calculates everything for three years, that's a lot of number
crunching. I know I could narrow it by month or something, but other
than that it'd be intense the larger the db got.

I thought about a table with a starting balance and from there do my
debit and credit, updating the starting balance column each time and
grabbing that value when I need to know the balance. Other than that
I know of nothing but a running total simply adding and subtracting as
needed. Thanks for thoughts.
