Generating backend PDF/Excel re****ts

by "aravind.kanda@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <aravind.kanda@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 10, 2007 at 01:27 PM

Hi all,

Currently ours is a Cognos Re****tnet shop. We get lot of re****ting
requirements where the re****ts need to be generated (both in pdf and
excel format) in batch and stored on a network drive, so the users can
retrieve later. Typically we use the bursting capabilities of
Re****tnet which will burst into several re****ts by Customer (10000+)
using Re****tnet. Then the re****tnet sdk is used to retrieve these
re****ts in the content store and saved on the network drive. In the
beginning this looked like a great idea, but now we have a bunch of
re****ts that are run this way and it also turns out to be very CPU
intensive and time consuming.

We use Re****tnet 1.1 now and planning to get cognos 8 later this year
or next. Does anyone know if Cognos 8 has a better way of handling
this kind of functionality? Have you guys worked in a similar
requirement? What application have you used besides Cognos?

I appreciate your help,
Arvind.
