Area Overview The Markets Systems Management staff provides high-level
quality sup****t services for the Markets Groups mission critical systems
and databases. Markets business objectives are sup****ted through
acquiring, designing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining the Markets
Groups servers and databases. System and database administrators act as
technical resources to the Markets Groups major projects and will assist
with the design and implementation of infrastructure components. Systems
Management has an opening for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator
to be part of a team responsible for providing sup****t for the Markets
mission critical systems. The successful candidate would be required to
demonstrate strong technical skills, strong communication skills, the
ability to work in a mission critical environment, the ability to work
independently and the willingness to accept new technical challenges.
Hours: Rotating ****fts and Flexible Hours (9/10) (Overtime and weekend as
required)
Job Responsibilities
* Perform database installations, upgrades and configuration; *
Participate in periodic exercises to validate backup and recovery
procedures; * Perform maintenance, monitoring and tuning of Markets
databases; * Monitor production data processes, performance and database
capacity issues; * Perform the capacity planning required to create and
maintain the databases; work closely with system administration staff; *
Provide sup****t in database design and application development; *
Administer and monitor database security; * Perform reviews on the
database design and code to ensure the Group standards are being adhered
to; * Develop, implement and maintain DBA policies, procedures/manuals; *
Participate in the configuration, installation, testing/evaluation,
implementation, monitoring administration of all Market Group Sun
servers/systems including offsite contingency systems; * Assist with
security administration for the Groups computers and applications; *
Assist in troubleshooting problems with the databases, applications and
development tools; * Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to
the database objects; * Provide technical expertise to application
development teams and interface with Oracle Cor****ation for technical
sup****t as needed; * Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and
responsibilities as necessary; and * Participation in rotating off hours,
weekend and contingency site coverage.
Job Requirements
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 2
years of relevant work experience as a DBA with Oracle 10G; * Strong
knowledge of 10g Grid Control; * Good knowledge of Oracle internals and
procedural language (PL/SQL); * Strong knowledge of Oracle Data Guard; *
Good knowledge of Oracle RMAN procedures; * Strong knowledge of Oracle
security management; * Proven experience managing large-scale databases in
a mission critical environment; * Working experience in a medium or large
Sun Solaris based computing environment ; and * Sound communication and
customer service skills. Desirables: * Good working knowledge of IBM
WebSphere based applications a plus; * Familiarity with Sybase AES on
Solaris a plus.
