Description:   Our client in the retail industry is seeking a Senior
Oracle DBA.  This is a permanent op****tunity located in central NJ.  

Job Responsibilities:
•	Installation, configuration, and maintenance including upgrades and
patch management, implementation of backup and recovery policies, and
monitoring of the existing and proposed Oracle environments. Also expected
is partnering with team members in performance and capacity planning
responsibilities.  
•	Implementation of best practice operations, system do***entation and
offsite high availability/disaster recovery.
•	Visualize, architect, and manage the implementation of Oracle
operational procedures and processes that are appropriate to handle the
growth of the company and have a desire to learn other database platforms.
 
•	The candidate will be on a rotating schedule for after hour on call
sup****t, coordination and management of remediation tasks associated with
the Oracle environments.
•	Participating in project management tasks towards the successful
delivery of key database upgrades and projects. 
•	Contributing in capacity and scalability planning for new initiatives. 
•	Distribution of standards, policies and procedures for Data Center
Operations use in sup****ting enterprise Oracle databases. 
•	Arrangement of production monitoring requirements for existing and new
database implementations. 
•	Communication and coordination with internal and external facing
customers/departments.
•	Recommending infrastructure enhancements/changes to improve existing
products/services and/or reduce internal costs.
•	Prioritization of incident re****ts and key follow-up items.
•	Sup****ts development and production database environments. The duties
include ensuring that schedules for production processing and subsequent
distribution of production output are completed on a timely and accurate
basis.
•	OLTP and DSS DB Design which includes understanding DB file/disk Raid
Design
•	Experience in Oracle 9i and 10g, Data Guard, RMAN and Shell Scripting
are required.
•	Proficient in performance troubleshooting and tuning.
•	Knowledge of Oracle Advanced Replication is a plus.
•	Required to understand PL/SQL packages, procedures, triggers, and
functions.
•	Knowledge and ability to translate entity relation****p diagrams into
physical data models.
•	Perform Level III/IV technical sup****t function in sup****t of Operations
Staff and Applications Development Staff.
•	Assist in the establishment of procedures and processes for the
following: Backup/Recovery, Database Maintenance, Patch Management,
Applications Sup****t and Job Scheduling.
•	Participate in infrastructure upgrades and new database roll-out
projects.

Job Qualifications:
•	5+ years of Oracle experience in Oracle 9i and 10g
•	Storage RAID Levels
•	Oracle Foundation Architecture
•	OLTP and DSS DB Design with associated DB file/disk Raid Design
•	RAC
•	Performance Tuning
o	SQL
o	Statspack
o	AWR
•	High Availability
•	Disaster Recovery
•	Backup & Recovery
•	Upgrades and Migrations
•	Partitioning
•	Unix Scripting
•	Advanced Replication
•	Streams
•	GRID
•	Working knowledge of Unix and networking concepts.
•	BS in Business or Computer Science or equivalent experience and
technical certification.
•	Ability to adjust, sort and distinguish priorities. 
•	Project Management and Re****ting Skills.
•	Effective oral & written communication skills required. 
•	Must be familiar with technical do***entation, word processing software,
****ft schedules and turnover.
•	Ability to work effectively with people from various departments and
skill sets.


SPECIFIC PROJECTS:
•	Institute on-going processes and procedures to insure day-to-day
database stability as well as meeting department goals.
•	Troubleshoot problems and develop procedures with do***entation to
prevent reoccurrences.
•	Evaluate current processes and procedures and provide new methods or
modifications to allow for more efficient operations as well as the
development of new policies, procedures and do***entation to sup****t data
center operations.
•	Participate in annual disaster recovery test for identified Oracle
databases.
•	Participate in high availability initiatives.
•	Assist in Oracle DB migrations and deployment of new systems.
