Hi Malcolm,

I have come across this error in two cases:

1. You are running the application in Compatibility Mode which can confuse

the BDE.

2. There is a memory conflict between the BDE and another resource on the 
machine - usually the video card but not always. Remember the BDE expects 
its contiguous shared memory to be available for all addresses in the 
specified range.

The solution is to go into the BDE Administrator and under Configuration -

System - INIT update the Shared Memory Location and potentially the size. 
For further information on these settings refer to the Help file. I
usually 
leave the Shared Memory Location blank and set the size to 2048 - I have
not 
had any problems on any Windows XP machine which is now over 500 thus far.
