Anyone interested in a round-table meet/greet forum this year? I can't
make it, but I'd be happy to help orchastrate it. Post a reply or drop an
e-mail stating your interest, possible topics, and the best show day/time
for you. If there's enough interest, I'll ask Nathan about a possible
location and date/time. I think that last year's forum flopped due to a
lack
of pre-show organization. If a date/time are set before hand, then I'll
post
it on mvdevcentral.com's calendar of events.
BTW, I'd like for someone to take notes on the discussions if possible.
I'd
be nice to post the info online.
Off-The-Top Topics:
What's your opinion on potential DB vendor merging in our market? If/when
it
happens, are you worried about your current platform surviving? Have you
considered what a migration would take if you were forced to migrate?
A developer's association. (of course I have to!) What should its focus be
and what should developers and vendors get out of it?
With the housing market slump in the U.S. steering us towards a recession,
do you think that your software solution or skills can help streamline an
existing company's processes to make it more profitable with very little
investment? Agility is prime in a shakey market.
I think the GUI-app horse has been beaten back 100 years, so that's a
topic
that could be left until the end. It always causes a long drawn-out
discussion. <G>
