e-commerce ****tal

by "GlenB" <batchelg.removeit@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 8, 2008 at 10:19 AM

Hey folks,

I've been asked to present some solutions for a web e-commerce
****tal.
I've skimmed across a few of the vendors listed on the Spectrum exhibitor
list, so I have a couple of basic options to provide. I checked out Kore's

product last year @[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Spectrum. I've discussed the benefits and drawbacks of

working with a "canned" shopping cart and product navigation system, but I

still have to provide some options. What is wanted? Customers need to be
able to easily find the product they want and order it. Order tracking and

self-service customer service is a key factor also. The visual look and
feel
must be "current" and professional for both B2B and B2C customers. Changes

to functionality must be available post-install. The solution must be
integrated into our order queue and various other processes.

What we have available is:

D3/Linux (with FlashCONNECT)
over 15K skus and growing daily, quickly
~500 different product lines
Built-in UPS/FedEx/DHL ****pping/rating with up-to-date tracking detail
available from D3
Credit card auth software already in place (Totalink)
Existing paperwork and PDF generation is modular

Apache 2.2 on Linux
whatever additional software is needed can be installed if it's not
already
installed

The data spectrum we have for each product is also growing. We are
currently keying product specifications based on product line. This will
allow web filtering in a product line for the key item differences.
Example:
screwdrivers, pick Phillips #0 from the entire screwdriver list and only
see
the #0 drivers without changing product lines or categories. I'm sure you
PC
parts shoppers are familiar with this functionality from
NewEgg/Insight/CDW/etc. When this will be completed is a moving target
right
now. We're shooting for Jan 09, as we're about 1/4 completed. There are
imposed limitations to web ordering for some items, so the product browser

and shopping cart must be quite intelligent.

Take a look at what we're doing right now and then decide if you think
your solution will surpass what we've done already. If it will and you can

demo your software, please drop me an e-mail with details. If you want to
view various features of the site without an order, then please request
data
to do so. I can provide order tracking data and a MyAccount login.

Please keep in mind that the entire site must pass the daily Hacker Safe
web and PCI audit. If it does not, it must be patched within an agreed
time
frame. Again, visual design is just as im****tant as software design.
