Attaching a Windows 2000 Pro Tape Device to D3 7.5.3

by davet@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Apr 9, 2008 at 12:10 PM

I have installed D3 7.5.3 on Windows 2000 Pro on a laptop and have
logged into the dm account successfully.

I have also installed an SCT tape in Windows 2000 Pro using an
external scsi connnector connected thru a USB ****t, and Windows sees
the tape drive and it is in a Ready state.

But, the D3 Device Manager/VME Tape Devices tab does not show the tape
drive in the list of numbered tape devices.

It shows the floppy, the D3 Program files and a Pseudo Tape only.

How do I get the Windows tape device to be seen by D3 so I can install
it on D3?

I also have a pcCard scsi card on this laptop and I can connect the
tape drive thru the pcCard rather than thru the USB ****t if that's the
problem.

I can find nothing in the D3 documentation referring to how the D3
Device Manager sees the Windows 2000 tape resources, so I can only
conclude that it's an "automatic" process, but the sct tape drive does
not show up even after shutting down D3 and rebooting Windows 2000.

Again, tia for your assistance,

Dave
