RD's policy is to sell a 10-****t 1-year developer license for $500
with all features including FlashCONNECT, the D3 Oracle Gateway, and
other toys.  If a registered Value-Add Reseller requests this
developer licence, I believe they can get at least one at no charge.

RD's view is that companies generating revenue for them deserve to get
free software, but everyone else gets to pay for it.  I completely
disagree with this policy, and apparently so does every MV DBMS
provider and developer in this market) and have expressed concern many
times with no results.  My position is that there is a large community
of developers and value-add consultants that keep D3 in the field
(despite RD's best efforts), and keep the sup****t fees flowing to RD -
but these people do not directly sell licenses.

I was registered with them some years ago, until someone in sales said
something to me that was really stupid, and that was the last straw
that convinced me that I didn't want to sell for them.  As chickens
and eggs would have it, it's silly policies that keep us from wanting
to be resellers, and because we're not resellers we're subject to more
silly policies so they can pull in those few $500 bills.  Since RD
believes I'm one of this group who contribute no value to their
business, I reluctantly pay the price.

I'm sure their management would disagree that their $500/year income
has cost them some tens of thousands in end-user licenses... At least
I'm sure they wouldn't admit that to Rick Koe who's gotta be kicking
the covers at night trying to figure out why this investment is going
so bad.  Well, all I can say is "duh" - he should be talking to the
customer/developer base and we could explain it him quite clearly.
