D3, SQL, DTS & SSIS, Making the platforms talk

by wdavidhicks@[EMAIL PROTECTED] May 5, 2008 at 09:34 AM

Hi all:

I'm running D3 7.3.4.NT on Win2k Server. This server is about due for
replacement simply because of its age.

We have in place some automated processes that pull data from D3 (ODBC
driver C27) into SQL Server via DTS packages running on SQL Server
2000.

We recently upgraded one of our SQL Servers to 2005. SQL 2005 has
relegated DTS to a legacy function in favor of SQL Server Integration
Services (SSIS).

We found that SQL 2005's SSIS will not talk to D3's ODBC data source,
even after upgrading the server's D3 ODBC driver to version C30.

For our D3 server replacement, I anticipate that I will be loading D3
Windows version 7.5.3 onto Windows Server 2003.

Has anyone had success connecting D3 to SQL using SQL 2005's SSIS
platform?

A side note of possible interest: We currently run D3's ODBC service
in a command window in the foreground:

d:\progra~1\d3\d3prog~1>d3odbcsv -dpv
