How is the default encoding determined

by lists@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Geoffrey) Jun 12, 2008 at 12:20 PM

I recently was bitten by having two servers where the database encoding
was different. When I do an 'initdb' how does it determine the 'default'
encoding?
