'Test' connection button gives no message, just an 'OK' button... and connection doesn't work

by gcocks@[EMAIL PROTECTED] ("Greg Cocks") Jan 15, 2008 at 10:04 AM

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Hello,

=20

I am setting up a user for ODBC access to a PostgreSQL server on the
LAN, as I have done a few times before...

=20

Using the same settings, quadruple-checked, system DNS - but the 'Test'
connection gives no message, just the '!' icon and an 'OK' button on
just this one PC...

=20

All clients are running XP Pro, SP2 and all up to date on other patches,
etc

=20

I opened up ****t 5432 and then turned the Windoze firewall totally off
just in case it was that - no luck there...

=20

This client PC can browse to the shared directories and change the
allowed files on the server as expected, so seemingly not a windows
permission thing...

=20

Driver is v8.2.5...

=20

And not surprisingly the Excel file with an ODBC link to selected data
in the PostgreSQL database that works on other clients doesn't here...

=20

Very confused!

=20

Any help much appreciated...

=20
